Noonday Collection

A friend of mine, Kate from Southern Dwellings, recently introduced me to Noonday Collection.  The collection includes jewelry, bags, scarves, belts, and more.  The pieces are all beautiful, but learning about the company's mission is what inspired me.

The company is compromised of artisans around the world who live in improvised areas, and who were struggling to support themselves and their families.  Noonday started working with two artisans in Uganda and has now grown to 300 artisans in just three years.  This company encourages people to use your purchasing power to create change in the world.  This company is providing artisans with a pathway out of poverty, and their work is truly beautiful!

Here are some of my favorite pieces from their collection:

2014 Spring Wishlist

Spring Wishlist

Spring Wishlist by amyhfaust

Here's an overview of some items I'm currently craving.  As the temperatures start warming up I can't help but get excited to pull out some of my old favorites, and to hopefully add some new pieces to my wardrobe as well.  Feminine skirts, dresses, and accessories are always on my list, but I plan on adding some more casual items this season as well.  Distressed denim will definitely be added to my wardrobe.  Whether it's in full length jeans, cropped jeans, shorts, or all above I feel like this is something I will live in this season.  Scalloped shorts also keep catching my eye.  Last year I kept seeing the crocheted and lace shorts, but this year my prediction is that the scalloped shorts will be more on trend.   I also think pastels will be my favorite colors of the season which is why I added the pale pink watch and the adorable mint green cross-body bag.  The bow on the front of the bag makes a girly bag even more so, and I love it!

Of course, there's always a need for the classic staples like a good trench coat, handbag, pair of heels, and a blazer.  For fun I added an geometric print skirt, tinted mirrored sunglasses, and a ring that could be worn everyday.  What are you currently craving?  Are there any trends that you're lusting over?

Yours Truly,

St. Patrick's Day Work & Play

My Office Look of the Day:

My Parade Look:

Pictured below: My niece

Some of the festive parade fashion I spotted:

Work Look: Jacket: Express Jacket (old, similar here), Top: J. Crew Polka Dot Blouse (old, similar here), Skirt: J. Crew Pencil Skirt (old, similar here), Pumps: Ralph Lauren (old, similar here),Watch: Michael Kors Round Watch, Golden, Necklace: Versona.

Parade Look: Blazer: Loft Sweater Blazer, Blouse: New York & Company (old, similar here), Jeans: Joe's Jeans (similar here), Leopard Scarf: Target (old, similar here) Shoes: Banana Republic Tassel Flats (old, similar here), Purse: Banana Republic Quilted Satchel (old, similar here), Watch: Michael Kors Round Watch, Golden, Sunglasses: Kenneth Cole Reaction (old, similar here).

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Today's post shows how you can wear green for work and play.  For work I paired a green pencil skirt with a black polka dot top, and then I finished it off with a white jacket.  The look is professional, and doesn't scream St. Patty's Day.  I like to be festive, but I didn't want to be too obvious about it.

This weekend I went to the local St. Patrick's Day parade on Bardstown Rd.  It's always one of my favorites events because they shut down the street to celebrate, and the people watching is AMAZING!  You see people in kilts, green tutus, suspenders, leprechaun hats, etc.  The floats all have different themes, and they toss candy and beads into the crowd as they pass.  Since I'm from a city that's filled with die hard college basketball fans (UL or UK) this year there was also a lot of red and blue in the crowds of people since both teams were playing.  Thankfully both local teams won so everyone was happy and celebrating.

For the parade I wore a kelly green blazer with a white blouse and jeans.  I kept it casual and added a leopard scarf to compliment the look.  Most importantly I wore flats to keep comfortable.  Parking is always a challenge on Bardstown Rd., and when you have 50,000+ people in attendance it only makes it worse.  Knowing I'd have to walk a lot I opted for a comfortable (and cute) pair of flats.

What did you do to celebrate?  Do you have any fun St. Patrick's Day traditions?

Midi Skirt Obsession

Top: Forever 21 Lazy Day Cropped Sweater, Skirt: Forever 21 Blocked Stripe Midi Skirt, Heels: Michael Shanon Platform Pumps (old), Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Clubmaster Classic, Earrings: Cindy Borders Jewelry (similar), Watch: Michael Kors Watch, Golden

Lately, I have been obsessing over midi skirts.  Midi skirts are in between a mini and maxi skirt.  The lengths can vary.  You may find them a few inches below the knee, or just a few inches above the ankle.  My favorite midi skirt is generally a more twirl worthy type, but the bold stripes on this skirt caught my eye.  I paired the skirt with a black crop top sweater, and strappy platform pumps.

My earrings are from a local jewelry designer, Cindy Borders.  My mother-in-law, Tammy, introduced me to her jewelry a couple years ago, and I loved it.  Tammy has been helping me slowly build my collection by gifting me different pieces for special occasions.  It's always a gift I love to receive!
